JEDDAH — The Saudi national committee of Kerala Muslim Cultural Center (KMCC), the largest Indian expatriate organization in the Gulf, organized blood donation campaign to mark Saudi Arabia’s 84th National Day celebrations across the Kingdom.



Thousands of people have donated blood at the camps held in as many as 28 centers. It was for the third year in a row that the Saudi KMCC is organizing the campaign whose theme was “One drop of blood to the country that gives us food.”




The week-long campaign is being held in coordination with the Ministry of Health, according to KMCC office bearers. More than 500 expatriates donated their blood at a camp conducted at Shumaisy General Hospital in Riyadh.



The list of blood donors was handed to Khaled Sawabi, chief of the hospital’s blood bank, by KMCC leader Kunnummal Koya. Sawabi thanked the expatriate community for their humanitarian gesture and appreciated the dedication and commitment shown by expatriates toward the Kingdom and its people. Dr. Majid Al Magharabi, director of King Khaled Hospital in Al-Kharj, opened the campaign held at the hospital.



Hundreds of people came out to donate blood at the camp organized by Jeddah KMCC at King Fahd Hospital. Dr. Sami Al-Johani, head of the hospital’s blood bank, and other officials extended full cooperation to the drive.



Abdullah Al-Taifi, head of health affairs in Madinah, opened the campaign at Madinah’s King Fahd Hospital while Dr. Yasin Mallawi, medical director of King Abdullah Medical City in Makkah, inaugurated the drive at the city. Blood donation camps were also held in other cities including Yanbu and Khamees Mushayt.



KMCC Saudi President K.P. Muhammad Kutty, General Secretary Ashraf Vengatt, Acting President P.T. Muhammad, Acting Secretary Basheer Munniyur, and Convener Shareef Kasargode congratulated all those who extended support and cooperation to make the event a resounding success.
