India's Supreme Court overturned a ban imposed by several states on the release of a Bollywood epic, Padmaavat, about a mythical Hindu queen. The Supreme Court said the ban, which followed violent protests by members of the Hindu right who claimed the film falsely depicted a romance between the queen and a Muslim ruler, violated creative freedoms.India's film censor board had cleared Padmaavat for release subject to certain changes, but at least four states said they would ban its screening."Cinemas are an inseparable part of right to free speech and expression," said Chief Justice Dipak Misra.Last January protesters from a hardline Hindu group attacked the film's director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and vandalized the set during filming in Rajasthan. The leader of the group...

No time for learning Qur’an
Saudi GazetteI don’t have time. I wish there was more than 24 hours in a day. We all complain that there is no time. There is no time to exercise, no time to read a good book, no time to take a carefree walk, no time to sit down and read the Holy Qur’an with deep thought and reflection, and absolutely no time to practice and memorize verses of the Qur’an.The sharp truth is: there is time. You do have time.Where is all the time going? We are blind to our time-eating, time-wasting habits. We underestimate how much time we waste on idle, unproductive, useless habits. What are the things that are stealing our time away from us after we get back from work or school?Work or school or college takes up a big chunk of our day. For most people that is 8 to 9 hours. That leaves you with a...

Scientists reconstruct face of 9,000 year-old Greek teenager
ATHENS - The last time anyone looked on Dawn's face was 9,000 years ago. Now the teenager can be seen again, after scientists reconstructed her face to show what people looked like in the Mesolithic period, around 7,000 BC. But she doesn't look happy. Dawn is believed to be aged between 15 to 18 based on an analysis of her bones and teeth. She has a protruding jaw, thought to be caused by chewing on animal skin to make it into soft leather - a common practice among people of that era - and a scowling expression. Asked why she looked angry, orthodontics professor Manolis Papagrikorakis, who created a silicone reconstruction of her face from a terracotta mould of her head, joked: "It's not possible for her not to be angry during such an era." Dawn was possibly anemic...
