JEDDAH — Al Reef Sugar Company announced that it has obtained the approval of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources for the allocation of fuel oil required in the operation of its refinery under construction in Jazan City.
Commercial production of the refinery will start in the end of 2017, with a production capacity of 1,000,000 tons per year of crystal white sugar, Sheikh Abdul Khaliq, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Alreef Sugar Company, said.
He extended his gratitude to Prince Faisal Bin Turki Bin Abdulaziz and the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources for the prudent decision in allocation of the fuel for operational requirement. This confirms the ministry's commitment supporting strategic projects in the private sector that enhance the diversification of the national economy.
He also said obtaining the approval of the Ministry of Petroleum is the key to the kick-start the construction works as all other requirements including the funding, licenses and pertinent permissions have been obtained.
He applauded the commitment of the company's management to meet the needs of the local market and export to the international markets. The refinery will provide a variety of career opportunities for young Saudis, in line with the overall government strategy in diversifying and supporting the national economy.
