MANILA — Jericho Rosales is elated that his performance in “Alagwa” (international title: “Breakaway”) has earned the approval of foreign critics after it was screened at the 17th Busan International Film Festival, which concluded on October 13.

The actor headlined the independent film with child actor Bugoy Carino and Malaysian actress Carmen Soo, who had starred opposite Rosales in the soap opera “Kahit Isang Saglit” (“Even for Just One Moment”) in 2008.

In the movie, Rosales plays a single father to a 9-year-old boy who becomes a human trafficking victim.

“Alagwa,” which was helmed by Ian Lorenos, was warmly received by Korean audiences as well as international media, according to ABS-CBNnews.com.

In particular, the Hollywood Reporter’s review said that Rosales’ portrayal “expertly conveys the over-compensation of the single parent in the tough love Robert shows his son.” — SG
