Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH — Houthi militias failed to launch a ballistic missile toward Saudi Arabia from Hajjah in Yemen, an Al Arabiya correspondent reported on Tuesday.

Sources said the missile most likely fell in international waters in the Red Sea.

The Patriot Missile Defense System of the Arab coalition in Yemen also intercepted a ballistic missile in Ma’rib which Houthi militias and forces loyal to ousted president Ali Abdullah Saleh launched toward the city.

Local sources said the missile was destroyed above an empty area and did not cause any damage.

On Monday night, the coalition’s warships shelled a camp that militias control in the district of Bajil in Hodeidah.

In the early hours of Tuesday, battles renewed in Al-Maslub front, west of Al-Jawf governorate after cautious calm prevailed for few days.

Meanwhile, the Saudi-led coalition fighting to restore legitimacy in Yemen on Tuesday denied that it had targeted a home, after a health official said nine civilians were killed in an air strike.

Col. Turki Al-Malki, official spokesman of the coalition, denied that coalition forces targeted a house in the Muhaddah area southwest of Saada, it said in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). Malki said the coalition was coordinating with its allies in Yemen’s internationally recognized government to investigate the incident and accused their foes in the country’s armed Houthi movement of using civilian infrastructure to store weapons.

He said the coalition forces reject allegations in some media outlets that one of the houses in the area of Muhaddah in the southwest of Saada province was targeted, which caused loss of life for women, children, and injuring others.

Col. Al-Malki confirmed that the joint command has completed after-action review for operations that have been conducted last Friday and reviewed all operational tasks conducted in Saada province, revealing that there is no proof of the false allegation.

According to Al-Malki, the joint forces command of the coalition is investigating through its available means, as well as coordinating with the legitimate government of Yemen, its international partners and friends to exchange information on this unfortunate incident, considering the methodology of the Houthi militia in storing weapons and explosives inside houses and civilian objects.

He expressed profound regret over the civilian casualties among Yemeni people due to hostile acts committed by Houthi militias through futile and deliberate attacks against innocents and by using civilian homes and civilian objects to conceal all forms of weapons in flagrant violation of the international law.

Three women and six children were killed on Friday in the northwestern Saada province in an airstrike on their home, a Reuters report quoted Dr Abdel-Ilah Al-Azzi, head of the local health department, as saying.
