JEDDAH — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman on Wednesday issued an order appointing Turki Bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Asheikh as the new chairman of the General Sport Authority.
According to the royal decree, Muhammad Bin Abdul Malik Al-Asheikh was relieved of his post as chairman of the authority.
The King has instructed the concerned authorities to carry out his order with immediate effect, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Turki Al-Asheikh thanked King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, for appointing him as the head of the General Sport Authority. In a statement, he expressed his pride over the great trust reposed in him, hoping that the appointment would enable him to exert great efforts in serving this great nation. Al-Asheikh lauded the great care and support of the King and Crown Prince for promoting sports so as to deliver best outcome and make remarkable achievements at the regional and international levels.
Meanwhile, King Salman held on Wednesday telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump. During the talks, they discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries and reviewed the latest developments in the region and the world.
The leaders also emphasized the depth of the strategic relations between the two countries and the need to further strengthening them to serve the people of the two countries. — SPA
