Saudi Cultural Week which began at the New Manege exhibition center in Moscow on October 2, comes to an end today. The events were held in the run-up to the first-ever state visit to Russia by King Salman, after Sergey Lavrov, Russian foreign minister, flew into Saudi Arabia for talks on September 10.

The culturally enriched extensive program included an art exhibition with sculptures and art installations, educational artist interactions, along with folklore performances in a musical program. The artworks were classified into four categories including social, spiritual, socio-economic and landscape. Some of the participating Saudi artists were Moath Alofi, Rashed AShashai, Musaed Hulis, Khalid Zahid, Filwa Nazer, Lulwah AlHamoud, Awdah AlZaharani, Taha Sabban among many more. The exhibition offered visitors virtual access to the Kingdom using virtual reality technology that helped them explore public sites in the country.

Events commenced officially on October 4 under the patronage of the Saudi Minister of Culture and Information, Dr. Awwad Alawwad, and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Rostislavovich Medinsky.

A unique Saudi cinema night took place yesterday with the screening of three feature movies: ‘The Departed’, ‘Complaint’ and ‘The Bliss of Being No One’ followed by panel discussions.

Another set of talks with six experts included talks about the prospects of bilateral relations; roles both countries play in energy market stability; and the role of cultural convergence in achieving peace and tolerance.
