Jeddah
— World-renowned Greek composer and pianist Yanni arrived in Jeddah early on Tuesday to perform four concerts in Jeddah and Riyadh under the supervision of the General Authority for Entertainment.

“History in making,” the maestro said in a tweet before departing for Jeddah.

“Hi everyone, we are now in Florida getting ready to fly to Saudi Arabia... We are going to be experiencing history in the making and I would not miss it for anything in the world! First stop Jeddah!”

Upon his arrival in Jeddah, he tweeted a video, accompanied by a message: “We arrived in Jeddah just after 1:00 o’clock in the morning... and it didn’t take me long before I tried to learn Arabic from the media..:) as they all made me feel very welcomed.”

Yanni’s first and second concerts will be held at King Abdullah Economic City in Rabigh on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. He will then perform at the Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Center on Dec. 3 and 4.

Social media has been abuzz ever since Yanni’s concerts were announced.

“Welcome Yanni to Saudi Arabia, I have been to one of your concerts in San Diego and now it is the time to see it my home country,” tweeted Mohammed Alsubaie.

“Is this a miracle or a dream coming true? Shall I believe it or not? I always dreamed of watching one of your concerts in Dubai, but you will now honor us by visiting my country... I won’t miss this concert!” wrote Badr Bin Khaled.

Yanni announced in a tweet on Nov. 15 that he will be visiting Saudi Arabia.

“I wanted to let you know that I have been invited by the country of Saudi Arabia to perform there, with my orchestra, and I have accepted their invitation! The concerts will be open to the public which pleases me very much,” he wrote.
