MUMBAI - From Lata Mangeshkar and Amitabh Bachchan to younger talent like Farhan Akhtar and Riteish Deshmukh - celebrities from across Bollywood on Monday wished the legendary Dilip Kumar good health and a long life on his 95th birthday.

Dilip debuted as an actor in "Jwar Bhata". His career has spanned over six decades and over 65 films.

Dilip's wife Saira Banu, who often operates the actor's Twitter account, shared a wonderful message for the actor's massive fan following on social media.

"On Dilip Saab's birthday, as we get together as a family with Saab's brothers, sisters, relatives and some close friends, my thoughts reach out to all the wonderful fans and well-wishers for the duas and prayers for Dilip Saab. A million thanks," she Tweeted. Saira went on to say that Dilip has been advised to rest as he was recently diagnosed with pneumonia.

Dilip has been in and out of the hospital for the past few years. In December last year, he celebrated his 94th birthday in hospital, where he was being treated for fever and a swollen leg.

The actor, who received the Padma Vibhushan in 2015, the Padma Bhushan in 1991 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994, is best known for his starring roles in films like "Madhumati", "Devdas", "Mughal-e-Azam", "Ganga Jamuna", "Ram Aur Shyam" and "Naya Daur". - Agencies
