RIYADH — Minister of Culture and Information Awwad Al-Awwad on Tuesday appointed Abdullah Al-Maghlouth as Director General of the Center for Government Communication (@cgcsaudi) and official spokesman of the ministry.
Awwad said the government communication center is part of the ministry’s strategic plan to enhance the quality of all government media outlets to reflect the reforms the Kingdom is undergoing.
The center will train the spokesmen of various government agencies.
“The ministry will also launch a unified program through which all government events and projects will be announced,” the minister said.
He said Al-Maghlouth has vast experience as a supervisor and trainer at various media agencies.
He was head of communication at the Ministry of Defense reform program. He was also head of Public Relations at Saudi Aramco. He headed various media committees and projects including the 3rd OPEC summit in 2007, Jeddah Energy Forum, King Abdullah Sports Stadium opening ceremony and King Abdullah Center for Petroleum Research and Studies.
Al-Maghlouth has a PhD in digital media from Salford University in Britain and has a number of published works to his credit.
Last Sunday, Awwad launched the Center for Government Communication in the presence of over 75 public relations, information and communication officials.
He said that among the most important functions of the Center is to support the information sections in the government to disseminate their message.
