Riyadh
— Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir has said that Qatar must pay for the presence of US troops in Syria.

Jubeir also said in statements carried by the Saudi Press Agency on Tuesday that if US protection is withdrawn from Qatar the regime would fall in less than a week.

Jubeir said in a statement that Qatar must “send its military forces (to Syria), before the US president cancels US protection of Qatar, which consists of the presence of a US military base on its territory”.

According to analysts, Saudi Arabia need not pay anything to US because there is no American protection for the Kingdom at present as there are no US bases or forces in Saudi Arabia. “The Kingdom is protected by its own armed forces. But this is not the case with Qatar and if the US withdrew its protection and its military base from Qatar, the regime cannot protect itself and its people and it would fall within a very short span of time,” they noted.
