New center to train Saudis in the retail sector launched

JEDDAH — Prince Mishal Bin Majed, governor of Jeddah, inaugurated on Wednesday the Jeddah Localization Training Center at Jeddah University in Al-Faisalyah district in presence of officials from the Ministry of Labor and the Human Resource Development Fund.

He also attended the signing of the fist contracts between companies and jobseekers. While commenting on this, he said, “What we have been working on for the past two months is now a reality. We as integrated community work on employment of youth and the program still accepts registration from both jobseekers and companies offering jobs.”

He also stressed the need to combat unemployment by providing as much jobs for youth as possible. The program aims at finding jobs for 5,000 youth of both genders. The governor expressed their readiness to help any young Saudi to find a job.

Adnan Al-Humaidan, chairman of the University of Jeddah, said the aim of this national program is to contribute to localization of jobs and to help companies by providing qualified national personals. He considered the program as the first integrated training project that provides training proceeded by guaranteed jobs in the retail sector.

The center is located in the center of the city and has male and female well equipped training classes.

The program was finalized in cooperation with government and private sector partners to meet the transformation required in the human resources sector by 2030.

So far companies taking part in this project have offered 6,000 jobs and 6,345 jobseekers have been registered.

The training is divided into three levels: The basic level of 24 training days that includes theory and practical parts, advanced level that includes 12 days of training while the final level is the professional level, which has also set training for 12 days.

The program will help localize car showrooms, shops selling auto spare parts, gold, mobiles, electric appliances, medical equipment, sweets, construction material, clothes, children’s eyeglasses, watches, motorbikes and carpets as well as mobile maintenance and car rentals.
