Saudi Council of Engineers notes decrease in non-Saudi engineers

RIYADH
— The Saudi Council of Engineers reported that the number of non-Saudi engineers has decreased by 6,408 engineers since the beginning of this year, Al-Eqtisadiah report.

The council also reported that the number of Saudi engineers has also increased by 7,541 engineers since the beginning of this year. The total number of working engineers registered at the council has reached 194,825.

In the total, 161,858 of them are non-Saudi and 32,967 of them are Saudi with more than accredited 2,897 engineering offices. This year alone, 45 engineering offices were discredited and removed from the Saudi market. In all 2,359 of the accredited offices are main offices and 538 are branch offices.

The council expressed that they are working on supporting and developing human resources in the field of engineering and its ancillary professions. The council also aims to Saudize the engineering industry in the Kingdom.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Development announced that graduates of vocational programs that are linked to the engineering profession are to be considered in the Saudization quota.

They will be enlisted under the same social insurance and Nitaqat conditions.

The ministry entrusted the council to prepare a strategy that guarantees employment after graduation and a program that trains and prepares the youth to join the Saudi engineering work force.
