Health Ministry launches blood donation app

RIYADH — The Ministry of Health recently launched «Wateen» aorta app for blood donation.

It is a non-profit initiative to raise awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation and to ensure adequate supplies to blood banks across the Kingdom. The initiative also seeks to ease blood donations procedures through Wateen application to meet the needs of blood banks Kingdomwide, to launch regular donation campaigns and to improve donor experience.

In addition, the application aims to make available to blood banks across the Kingdom with adequate quantities of blood by the year 2020.

The app received 12,786 users and 1,897 donors so far. It has organized eight blood donation campaigns with participation of 140 donors. — SG
