Washington — Princess Reema Bint Bandar Bin Sultan, who took oath of office on Tuesday as the Kingdom’s first female ambassador to the US, said on Wednesday that she will do her best to strengthen relations between the two countries and achieve their common goals.

Expressing thanks and gratitude to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, Princess Reema said, “I am honored to be the first woman as a Saudi Ambassador to the United States of America.”

She expressed pride in this royal trust, and assured that she will serve to the best of her ability the religion, the King and the homeland.

“While we continue to work for further progress and development in the Kingdom, we will continue to work with our partners in the United States to ensure the success of this transformation,” she added.

Since 2016, Princess Reema had been serving as the Saudi General Sports Authority’s (GSA) Deputy of Planning and Development. In the very same year, she was appointed as vice president of women’s affairs at the General Sports Authority. In 2017, she held the position of the president of the Saudi Federation for Community Sports.

She was instrumental in the inclusion of physical education for girls in schools.

In 2017 Princess Reema was awarded Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sport Award in its Ninth Edition for her role played in the empowerment of women in the region through her spirit of entrepreneurship and philanthropy.

She is a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Women in Sports Commission and a member of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee.
