Ferrandi-Paris School to train 24 Saudi cooks from Al-Ula

The Royal Commission for Al-Ula has announced the launching of a new partnership with Ferrandi-Paris School, one of the pioneering French schools in the art of cookery and hospitality management, Saudi Press Agency said Monday.

This unique partnership will see the launching of a training program designed according to international standards to teach the art of cooking. Ambitious young cooks from Al-Ula are expected to study in the French capital, Paris.

Some 24 male and female cooks from Al-Ula will be selected in the first stage of the program to take part in a 4-month specially designed course at the renowned Ferrandi-Paris School.

Senior lecturers and experts at Ferrandi are scheduled to arrive in Al-Ula to select the 24 Saudis.

On their return to Al-Ula, the trained cooks will be given an opportunity to work under the supervision of 10 senior chefs who have obtained the Michellin Star, and help in designing the lists of the unique Al-Ula tastes with inspiration from the local cuisines and environment. These dishes will be presented to the guests, including VIPs who will attend the second season of the Tantourah Winter Festival, which is held annually in Al-Ula.

Commenting on the importance of the initiative, RCU CEO Amr AlMadani said: “This is another in a series of programm we are undertaking with the people of AlUla to deliver innovative employment opportunities anchored in personal and professional development initiatives. This partnership with FERRANDI Paris will equip a new generation of local men and women with the tools necessary to become the leading chefs and culinary entrepreneurs in AlUla, promoting excellence as the custodians of the county’s culinary heritage”.
Those interested in the program should be between 21 and 35 years old. They should be graduates from Al-Ula secondary schools and they should be to some extent fluent in English.

After the interviews, the 24 nominees will be announced on July 26 and training is scheduled to start in Paris at the end of August.

At present, Ferrandi-Paris is training 2,500 male and female students and 2,000 professionals and individuals seeking to change their professions. The students, professionals and individuals receiving training are from within France and abroad.

Ferrandi-Paris School was established in 1920 by the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It provides a number of programs, certificates and degrees up to even master’s degrees.
