JEDDAH —
Domestic travelers will have to pay SR10 every time they make use of any local airport in the Kingdom, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) said.

Makkah daily quoted GACA authorities as saying that the tax will be levied from Jan. 1, 2020 on all domestic passengers entering or exiting any airport in the Kingdom. The tax is regarded as charges for using the lounges and other utilities. The money thus earned will be used to finance development of the basic infrastructure of the airports and improve services, GACA said.

The authority made it imperative on all airlines using local airports to collect the tax from passengers whether they are arriving or departing warning them that they would be penalized if they failed to do so.

GACA said the tax will be reviewed once every three years according to the inflation rates.
