RIYADH — The Ministry of Commerce has affirmed that there was abundance of food supplies and other essential goods in Qatif governorate in the Eastern Province.
The ministry’s clarification came on Monday following the decision of the Ministry of Interior to cordon off Qatif region in a bid to contain the spread of coronavirus after discovering that all the 11 affected persons in the Kingdom were from this region, Saudi Press Agnecy (SPA) said.
The Ministry of Commerce also ensured that supply chains will be monitored in all regions of the Kingdom. The ministry’s monitoring teams have carried out field tours to verify the availability of food products and supplies in Qatif governorate. “The field teams would continue their task of monitoring commercial shops and provision stores to prevent fraud and malpractices,” the ministry said warning that punitive action will be taken against violators.
The ministry urged all consumers to be fully aware of precautionary measures to ensure consumer protection, and in case of any complaints or queries, they have to report them by contacting over phone with its Communications Center (Number 1900) or through the app ‘commercial communication’ or the ministry’s official website.
