RIYADH — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman marked the Kingdom’s Flag Day by underscoring the importance of the national identity of the country.

King Salman described the celebration of the Flag Day as an affirmation of the pride in the national identity and its historic symbolism.

He said on his Twitter account on Saturday: “The celebration of Flag Day is an affirmation of our pride in our national identity, its historic symbolism that has great connotations and profound implications, which embodies our constants, and a source of pride in our history.”

Saudi Arabia marked its first Flag Day celebrations with events, activities on Saturday.

The King stated that the Flag Day will be celebrated on March 11 every year.

The Monarch noted that the Flag Day coincides with the day March 11, 1937, when King Abdul Aziz, the founder of modern Saudi Arabia, approved the shape of the flag to confirm the great connotations of this flag that refer to growth, giving, unity and prosperity.
