IIROSA launches health and community projects in Comoros

JEDDAH — The International Islamic Relief Organization, Saudi Arabia, an affiliate of the Muslim World League (MWL), announced on Tuesday a campaign titled “Health and Community Projects in Comoros” during a meeting held under the able leadership of the Secretary General of IIROSA, Hassan Shahbar, here at its headquarters.
The meeting was held in presence of working teams that consisted of more than 40 Saudi individuals that are consultants, medical cadres, technical and administrative team.
Dr. Taha Bin Omar Khatib, director general of IIROSA programs and welfares as well as the chairman of this campaign, in his welcoming speech said that program has been developed since two years and during the preparation phase IIROSA collected the education, health and social needs of the Comoros.
“The entire program has been directed under Dr. Abdul Karim Al-Issa, the secretary general of Muslim World League (MWL) who emphasized on the importance of developing communities as one of MWL main visions,” he added.
During the meeting, Shahbar stated that IIROSA decided to implement its vital program that includes health and social program in Comoros between Jan. 10-20.
The working plan includes the implementation of medical survey in collaboration with the Ministry of Health in Comoros. The program targets 5,000 people in the state of Comoros to identify the health situation in the community, also the common diseases and the urgent needs of the medications and medical supplies.
Moreover, most importantly the priority will be given to a final medical survey on breast cancer. The program will also provide very first aid training program that is CPR, male circumcision and how to use its device.
Likewise, the program includes health awareness, operating a number of clinics in collaboration of Ministry of Health in Comoros in the field of dental help, internal medicine, chronic diseases, pediatrics and breast cancer.
Shahbar also mentioned that this medical survey is one of the specialized surveys that provides data and indications on different aspects related to health variations. “It’s first of a kind in Comoros and the most important output to establish a data-base in the medical field,” he added.
The launching ceremony of this campaign will be held in Moroni and will be attended by Dr. Hamidou KARIHILA, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in charge of cooperation with the Arab and Muslim World, Dr. Fatimah Rashid from Ministry of Health, Dr. Hamad Al Hajiri, the Saudi Ambassador in Comoros and a number of officials and those interested in humanitarian work, and some international organizations and local media.
Dr. Ahmed Abdul Latif, head of the volunteering team, on behalf of his colleagues said, “We thank the Muslim World League and IIROSA to provide us an opportunity, especially to the young Saudi doctors to work as volunteers in such huge campaign that will be held in Comoros and help the poor and the needy community members as well as contribute their medical capabilities at best.” — SG
