TSI Bowlers cement lead with double at FTBJ-ICBL 39th Conference

BY EARL WRIGHT JEDDAH — League-leading The Synergy International (TSI) Bowlers pulled farther away from the chasing pack with a Team of the Week and men’s Bowler of the Week double during the 15th session in the FTBJ-ICBL 39th Conference bowling tournament at the Sultanah Mall’s Bowling City on Tahlia Street here. TSI returned one of the highest totals of 42 points and in the process became the team to score the most number of Team of the Week victories at six. Former champion Ekis Reload finished a distant second at 32 in light of the TSI’s prodigious display, with Mixed Nuts the only other team to pass 30 points on 31. Jeraisah tallied 28.5 points at fourth place on the day followed by previous week honoree Bowling City 24, Crime Busters 21.5 and FGS Bowlers 20. Dabarkads compiled 19 points ahead of Cash Pinas-Fawri 18.5 points. Lance & 3rdy, second in the team standings, struggled during the session to be next to last with 14.5 points. JP Gilas IV brought up the rear on 13 points in the five-man team Friday afternoon league event sponsored by Harvest Coconut Water juice drink, distributed by Binzagr Co., through Marketing Manager Raju Nair. Suhaime Leong shot the high series of 652 on lines of 249, 195 and 172 to claim Bowler of the Week honors while taking charge at TSI, which also drew solid numbers of 623 from Tariq Antonio and 615 from Shams Mustafa. To complete the five-man team rotation, Hasna added 573 and Rozana 504 from the distaff side. George Mangaliman ended up only a pin shy of 600 while leading the Ekis charge that also contained 561 and 560 from the ladies pair of Alma Bacero and Malu Relativo, as well as two games each from Faisal Relativo 168-195, Emil Payongayong 193-189 and Zaldy Bacero 189-229. Rey Beltran bowled solid at Mixed Nuts with his round of 590 to go with the 572 by Oca Bernabe, 200-189 by Jay Bengco and 191 by Med Ramos. From the Jeraisah’s ranks came the ladies’ Bowler of the Week in Myrna Soriano who rolled 595, with Dariel Loquias leading the team on 631. The others who contributed to the Jeraisah cause were Nezar Al Hamwe 577, Melody Agbayani 512, Rommel Agbayani 166-163 and Dylan Ilagan 170. Meantime, the search for the FTBJ’s top male and female bowlers of 2017 ended recently when Nonie Yap and Shirley Sagmit were crowned as the FTBJ Bowler of the Year for the men’s and ladies’ divisions.
