RIYADH — Riyadh Warriors Green defeated Lahore Badshah by 69 runs to win the 40-over Al-Kharj League of the Prince Abdulaziz Bin Nasser Cricket Tournament, organized by Riyadh Cricket Association (RCA).
Electing to bat first, Riyadh Warriors Green got off to a good start with 100 plus opening stand between Nasir Abbasi and Ayaz Shah. Abbasi scored 68 off 40 balls while Ayaz Shah made 101 off 92 balls. In the middle order, Amjad Ali played brilliantly for 64 runs from 43 balls, while finishing touches were provided by Iftikhar Ali (54 off 25) and Syed Adeel (38 off 24). Riyadh Warriors Green posted 364-8.
Lahore Badshah started the chase well and kept the momentum throughout but lost wickets at regular intervals. Lahore Badshah was all out for 295 in 32.4 overs. Najeeb Asghar scored 85, Mudassar 42, Yassir 38, Fahad 36 and Awais 23. Munawar Bajwa took 3 wickets, while Imtiaz Butt and Danish Zafar got 2 wickets each. Ayaz Shah was declared the Man of the Match for his responsible innings of 101.
Quarterfinals were played in the Huraymala T20 League.
Al-Harbi CC defeated Riyadh Warriors Blue by 73 runs. Al-Harbi, batting first, scored 247-5. Shahid Islam played a brilliant unbeaten knock of 152 off 65 balls. Salman Shahid added 44. Nouman and Ayaz bagged 2 wickets each. Riyadh Warriors Blue was restricted to 174-6. Abdulaziz made 57. Samiullah picked up 2 wickets. Man of the Match: Shahid Islam.
Fonte Star CC got the better of White Star CC by 15 runs. Fonte Star CC recorded 229-2, thanks to Bilal Wani who hit an unbeaten 150 off 70 balls. Safdar contributed 34. White Star CC managed 214-6 in reply. Umer Bashir scored 80 and Naeem Jutt 55. Ayaz claimed 2 wickets. Man of the Match: Bilal Wani.
Pak Force CC thrashed PPF CC by 67 runs. Pak Force CC tallied 239-4. Mohsin Rasool remained unbeaten on 153 off 67 balls, while Fayyaz added 63. Asif got 2 wickets. PPF CC replied with 172-9. Asif hit 53 and Kashif 44. Faisal grabbed 3 wickets, while Hammad and Waheed got 2 each. Man of the Match: Mohsin Rasool.
Riyadh Blues defeated Amer Holidays by 3 wickets. Amer Holidays, batting first, scored 203-6. Sajjid hit an unbeaten 71, while Shams and Imran added 47 each. Naseeruddin and Sadiq took 2 wickets each. Riyadh Blues won the match in 19 overs. Zaheeruddin blasted 103 off 49 balls and Abu Sufiyan made 35. Irfan picked up 3 wickets and Rizwan 2. Man of the Match: Zaheeruddin.
In the semifinals, Al-Harbi CC will play Fonte Star and Pak Force will compete against Riyadh Blues. — SG
