JEDDAH — Javed’s brilliant ton (123) led his team ECU Lines to an emphatic 30-run win over Sindh XI in the Kanoo Premier League sponsored by Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Group and organized by JCA.
In the other matches Kashmir XI, Jamoom Fighters, KAIA and Reel & Rom crushed their respective opponents.
Kashmir XI beat Hyderabad Green by 8 runs. Kashmir XI put up a fighting score of 172 for 5 with Sami smashing a quick-fire 67 off 32 balls and Awais 56. Bilal and Saif picked up 2 wickets each for 12 and 23, respectively. In reply, Hyderabad Green fought well but ended up 8 runs short at 164 for 7. Zia batted well for his 57 and Saifullah (28) while Sami put in a fine all-round performance taking 3-31 and was supported by Ehsan with 2-32.
Jamoom Fighters beat Ittihad by 4 wickets. Ittihad was kept to a low tally of 115 for 9. Rizwan was the lone fighter scoring 35. Others failed to handle the penetrative bowling of Usman Butt (4-37) and Umar (2-32). Jamoom Fighters were made to fight before reaching the target of 118-6 to win by 4 wickets as Zulfiqar and Tauseef batted sensibly scoring 23 each while Jameel took 3-21.
KAIA beat Al-Khulais by 8 wickets. Al-Khulais was bundled out for a paltry 92 with Adil (27) and Nadeem (20) the only ones reaching double figures. Fahad and Majid took 2 wickets each. KAIA reached the target of 95 for 2 with Majid leading the way with an unbeaten 36 and Ahsan 25.
ECU Lines beat Sindh X1 by 30 runs. ECU Lines posted 223 for 3 thanks to Javed, who scored a brilliant 123 off 59 balls (12 fours, 6 sixes). He was given good support by Abdul Rahman (36) and Izhar (21). Shakeel picked up 2-28. In reply, Sindh XI fought back valiantly but ended at 193 all out. Munawwar (45) and Shakeel (42) led the way with Salman (37) and Fahad (20) giving admirable support. Abdul Rahman (3-38), Junaid (3-39) and Izhar (2-21) bowled their hearts out to give their team a well-deserved win.
Reel & Rom beat Pak Young by 8 wickets. Pak Young reached 206 for 7 in their allotted overs. Reel & Rom overhauled the total for the loss of 2 wickets. Ilyas played a gem of an innings (92 - 12 fours, 3 sixes) while Imran (37) and Irfan (45 not out) lent able support.
In the previous week matches, Ittihad had the better of Khulais by 65 runs, ECU Lines sank KAIA by 5 wickets, Pak Young struggled before overcoming Kashmir XI by 24 runs, Reel & Rom thrashed Hyderabad by 8 wickets and Sindh XI comfortably beat Al Boroj by 54 runs.
