JEDDAH — The delegates attending the 48th general assembly of the Arab Air Transport Association (AATA) visited the Historic Area in Jeddah’s Balad district on Monday. The Public Relations Department at the Saudi Arabian Airlines has organized trips for the delegates to the Historic Area and other major destinations in Jeddah and Makkah, according to a Saudia press statement. The delegates were fascinated to witness the major architectural landmarks and ancient buildings in the Historic Area, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and architectural wonders of the old Hejaz region. The delegates toured historic buildings, including Bait Al-Naseef. Saudia also arranged a trip to Makkah so as to enable the delegates to perform Umrah pilgrimage and perform prayers at the Grand Mosque. The national carrier organized a function to honor the guests at the Park Hyatt Hotel on Monday evening. Those who attended the function included IATA’s President and CEO Tony Tyler, Saudia Director General Saleh Al-Jasser and Abdul Wahab Tuffaha, secretary general of Arab Air Carrier Organization (AACO), and CEOs of Arab air transport companies. The guests were enthralled to witness staging of Hejazi folk arts performance, which was followed by dinner. The CEOs of Arab aviation companies thanked Saudia for its hospitality and organizing the tour program that enabled them to know closely about the rich Saudi culture and heritage, in addition to the massive developments being taken place in all spheres of life.
