The body of the new 2016 Ford GT will be mixture of carbon fiber and aluminum. It will keep its mass on lower figures which will boost performance, fuel efficiency and drive handling. According to Ford engineers, new Ford GT 2016 will offer one of the best power-to-weight ratios of any production car. Front fascia has bold and aggressive look with few details of raw, unpainted carbon fiber. Beside large LED headlights it will have recognizable twin air outlets in the hood. Rear side of the vehicle will feature an active spoiler which will be able to change its pitch and profile based on vehicle speed and driver input.
The Detroit based automaker said they are committed to innovation through performance, and they believe the new, upcoming GT is a fine example of this.
Its design is lightweight, as it is made from carbon fiber composites, and the 600-plus-horsepower twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine will allow it to reach amazing speeds because of its power-to-weight ratio.
The heart of the new 2016 Ford GT will be proven and powerful EcoBoost engine. It will be twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine that will be able to produce over 600 horsepower. It is placed in the middle of car behind the seats to offer a great weight balance. With this powerplant, Ford achieved three wins in its first season of the IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship in 2014 and it won a podium in the prestigious 12 Hours of Sebring. This engine will be mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transaxle that allows it fast shifting and great performance.
The Ford GT racing program was announced in June at Le Mans, six months after the production version of the Ford GT was announced with great fanfare at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The team’s car numbers pay homage to Ford’s victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966 and 1967.
The two WeatherTech Championship Ford GTs will join two cars based in Europe for a four-car assault on the GTE Pro class in the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The 2016 Ford GT release date is set for 2016. Price of the new Ford GT supercar is still unknown but one thing is sure: it won’t be cheap. The previous model had a $140,000 price tag than we can expect that the Ford GT 2016 price will be even higher. — SG
