JEDDAH — The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Jeddah organized “Bike for Dad”, a cycling event to celebrate King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s 88th Birthday Anniversary last Friday, Dec. 11 at Binladen Compound in Jeddah.

Thanis Na Songkhla, Consul General, led a hundred of Thais living in Jeddah and Makkah in cycling around the compound premises.

“Bike for Dad”, was initiated by Thai Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn to pay tribute and express loyalty, together with the people of Thailand, to the King on the auspicious occasion of the King’s birthday anniversary.

The Crown Prince, together with Princess Bajrakitiyabha and Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana, led the nation in cycling for 29 kms in Bangkok and nationwide. The Thais living in other nations also registered to bicycle in their country of residence with the Royal Thai Embassy/ Consulate to markthis auspicious occasion.

The total numbers of 607,909 cyclists were officially registered, including 99,999 in Bangkok and 9,805 from 66 cities worldwide. Bangkok-based diplomats also joined the cycling day.  — SG
