JEDDAH — Empower Cricket Club defeated Parwaz Cricket Club by 16 runs in the final to win the Jeddah Deccan Trophy (JDT) tennisball cricket tournament, organized by Hyderabad Friends XI Cricket Club at Sulaimania Cricket Grounds here recently.
Empower CC, which won the toss and elected to bat, scored 153 for the loss of 3 wickets in the allotted 15 overs. Ali top scored with 50 in 31 balls for the winner. Arshad took two wickets for the loser.
While chasing, Parwaz was restricted to 137-7. Zulfiqar blasted 54 from 30 balls. Musharaaf and Mujahid took two wickets each for Empower to seal the victory.
The other teams which took part in the six-team tournament were Enviro Cricket Club, Friends Cricket Club, Jeddah Jaguars and Hyderabad Friends XI.
Sadequl Islam, manager cricketing affairs of Saudi Cricket Centre (SCC), Irfan Qureshi, Farooq Syed, Javed, Dr. Gayas Ahmed and Mohammed Kaleem graced the final and distributed the prizes.
Ifras and Rizwan were selected as the Best Batsman and Best Bowler, respectively.
