JEDDAH — Sipco-Pepsi Cola Bugshan in coordination with Al Baik organized the second edition of festival cricket match between Pepsi and Al Baik at Baghdadiya ground here.

The match was organized to promote a healthy relationship between the two companies.

After winning the toss Al Baik decided to field first. The bowlers responded to the captain’s decision by bowling a tight line and length and took wickets at regular intervals. However, Shahid Adnan and Kaleem Ahmed took Pepsi to a respectable total of 124 in 13 overs.

In reply, Al Baik itself lost wickets at regular intervals. Sarfaraz then brought the side back into the match and he was well supported by Pervaiz. Al Baik required only 3 runs in the final over, but Abdul Quddus took the match away from Al Baik and conceded only 1 run and took 4 wickets, including a hat trick, to take Pepsi to a thrilling 1-run win.

Adnan Shahid and Shahid Javed took 2 wickets each. Abdul Quddus was awarded the Man of the Match award.

Honorable guests Ahmed El-Mehelmy, Haitham El-Bendary, Mohammed Zabani and Nabil Ibrahim from Pepsi, Jalal and Kabeer from Al Baik and Nadeem Nadwi, Sadiqul Islam from Saudi Cricket Centre (SCC) graced the occasion.

El-Bendary and Kabir thanked the players for their enthusiasm and spirit on and off the field. They assured them that similar event will be held more often in order to enhance business relations.

The winner and runnerup trophies along with medals were awarded to the players. A draw was also held for gifts like IPads, mobiles and electronic items for the spectators.

The match was officiated by Kumar Krishnan and Syed Afzal. Naushad was the commentator, Zubair official scorer and Rabbani did the digital scoring.

The organizing committee comprised Mohammed Sami Khan, Mahmoud Hussain, Mohammed Abdul Quddus and support staff. — SG
