Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian Infinite Geometry
January 5 – 30, 2016

The Third Line announced the opening of its new gallery space in Alserkal Avenue, with the inaugural exhibition focusing on a solo presentation by Iranian nonagenarian Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian. The exhibition will reflect upon the different facets and materials of her geometric practice and will feature a range of drawings, carpets, and mirror works, showing the depth of her conceptual consideration throughout her career and medium. While many of the drawings and mirror works are new and only produced in the last few years, the presentation also includes drawings and carpets that were made in the early 90s, all of which have never been shown before.

Snapchat Is a Major Key to Success For DJ Khaled

It's everywhere, including Snapchat's latest Christmas filter. DJ Khaled has been dispensing the major keys to success on his Snapchat (@djkhaled305) account. The Verge named him “the year’s most positive meme."  2015 was the year we got Khaled’s mantra “Don’t ever play yourself” and weird metaphors about door hinges; it was the year we saw Khaled dunk a basketball on a comically short hoop and try desperately to contact Rihanna. He films himself watering his lawn constantly with an iconic lion statue standing tall among his plants. His catchphrases about reaching for success are catchy and memorable: "Bless up" and "Another one." And then there are Khaled’s "keys to success," which include, among other things, cocoa butter, coconut water, normal water, pedicure and manicure once a week, weekly haircuts, a gold sink, clean heart, clean face, green apples, Dove deodorant, Dove bar soap, Listerine, and plants — lots of plants. When talking about his fondness for Snapchat, he said: "When you push the button I ain’t got time to act, "What is it, 10 seconds? Five seconds? I don’t know how long it is. You push the button and I’m just being me. You can hear it in my voice. You can see it in my eyes. It’s just being me. Snapchat is straight up raw, there ain’t someone on there trying to tell you how your shirt look. There ain’t haters." — Compiled by Mariam Nihal
