JAZAN — A cleaning worker employed by a contracted company at the Abu Arish Public Hospital was giving patients medications and prescriptions taking advantage of the absence of the person in charge at the emergency section. Hospital manager Ali Mhanshi threatened to start an urgent investigation into the issue and address all problems, confirming that instructions prohibit anyone other than people in charge to be present at clinics and departments. When Okaz/Saudi Gazette approached the cleaner he didn’t hesitate to decide for a prescription justifying his action in the absence of the employee in charge who went to have his dinner. Several patients at the emergency room section in the hospital criticized the congested space in the facility due to lack of medical and nursing staff as well as a shortage in the number and space of rooms.
