DAMMAM — In separate incidents, a Saudi citizen was killed and another wounded, while a third one was kidnapped at gunpoint and robbed on Sunday in Al-Awamiyah town in Qatif in the Eastern Province, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
According to the Eastern Province police spokesman, security men came under heavy gunfire from an unknown source, resulting in the death of a citizen called Ali Imran Al-Dawood while Muhammad Jaafar Althifa, aged 8, suffered gunshot wound.
The attack occurred at around 11.30 p.m. when the security men were engaged in seizing a stolen heavy equipment. The wounded child was taken to hospital for treatment. He is now in stable condition, the spokesman said.
In another incident, a group of armed rioters abducted a young Saudi man at gunpoint while he was moving through Al-Awamiyah town at 10.00 a.m. on Sunday.
The abductors took the citizen, who is in his 20s, to a farm area and assaulted him. The gang stole his vehicle, purse and mobile phone, and then abandoned him on a public road after taking his photograph.
The spokesman said that the security authorities have launched a massive manhunt to catch the perpetrators of both the terrorist crimes.
