LARGE numbers of Muslims come to our country to perform Haj or Umrah every year. We welcome them and do our best to provide them with the best possible services so that they can perform the rituals as comfortably as possible.
However, those who overstay their visas and do not return to their home countries pose great threats to our security and economy. Anyone who tries to destroy our economy, destabilize our security and break the peace will not be tolerated or welcomed. As Saudis, we will always be more than happy to help our brothers and sisters who enter the country as Umrah or Haj pilgrims. Those who overstay their visas are dangerous and we will report them to the authorities because it is our duty as citizens to do that.
Overstayers can destabilize our security and destroy our economy. If a large number of them were to overstay their visas, they would start looking for jobs and they would be willing to do jobs for which they have no skills. They will compete with expatriate workers who enter the country legally. The other thing is that overstayers will send all of the money they earn back to their home countries.
With regard to security destabilization, the authorities do not have any reliable information about overstayers and where they live because they do not have residence permits. If an overstayer commits a crime, it is difficult to catch him because we do not know where he lives.
Are these reasons not enough to force them out and report them to the authorities? As I said earlier, our Muslim brothers and sisters who enter the country legally to perform Umrah or Haj are more than welcome and we are honored to serve them. Those who do not go back should not be helped and those who help them should be called traitors. Citizens should not deal with overstayers or give them jobs. I urge citizens not to aid them because violators will face hefty fines and be held accountable, which could result in a jail term.
