LOS ANGELES — The Miami Heat were on fire Tuesday, connecting on a club record 67.5 percent of their shots in a 129-111 NBA victory over the Chicago Bulls. The Heat’s shooting percentage was not only the best in franchise history, it was the best in the NBA this season. Miami center Hassan Whiteside had a career-high 26 points with 14 rebounds and four blocks — all game highs. It was Whiteside’s sixth straight double-double, all of them off the bench. Forward Joe Johnson, playing his first home game in Miami in his second contest since signing with the Heat at the weekend, scored 24 points. Luol Deng, a former Bulls standout, had 20 points, Goran Dragic had a double-double of 17 points and 11 assists and Dwyane Wade added 18 points and seven assists for Miami, who improved to 34-26 and are in fourth place in the East. Bulls point guard Derrick Rose, back after missing three games with a hamstring injury, scored 17 points, but Chicago allowed more than 100 points for the 14th straight game. The Bulls fell to 30-29 and ninth place in the Eastern Conference — half a game behind Detroit for the eighth and final playoff spot. Hornets 126, Suns 92: Guard Kemba Walker scored 26 points in just three quarters of action, and the Charlotte Hornets extended the Phoenix Suns’ road losing streak to 16 straight with an easy 126-92 victory. The Hornets took care of business quickly, racing to a 21-6 lead in the first seven minutes and going on to lead by as many as 27 in the first half. They pushed the lead all the way up to 43 in the second half. Trail Blazers 104, Knicks 85: Guard Damian Lillard scored 30 points and the surging Portland Trail Blazers continued rolling with a 104-85 victory over the New York Knicks. Lillard reached 30 points for the eighth time in his last nine games. He also made 10 free throws, extending his streak to 49. Lakers 107, Nets 101: Rookie point guard D’Angelo Russell scored a career-high 39 points, and the Los Angeles Lakers snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 107-101 victory over the Brooklyn Nets Tuesday night at Staples Center. Russell converted 14 of 21 shots from the floor and eight of 12 3-pointers. It was the most points scored by a Lakers first-year player during a regular-season game. Mavericks 121, Magic 108: Following the blueprint to their season-high, six-game homestand to perfection, the Dallas Mavericks secured another blowout of a lottery-bound opponent. The Mavericks’ 121-108 victory over the Orlando Magic at American Airlines Center was Dallas’ fourth win in five games, the third win in which they built a 20-point lead. They close out the homestand Friday against the struggling Sacramento Kings, a team they have beaten at home 22 consecutive times dating back to 2004. Warriors 109, Hawks 105 (OT): Center Andrew Bogut capped a season-best, 19-point effort with a key tip-in with 1:51 remaining in overtime Tuesday night, allowing the Golden State Warriors to keep their home-court winning streak alive with a 109-105 victory over the Atlanta Hawks.  — Agencies
