BDP Logictics, Finance dominate

JEDDAH — BDP Logistics and Finance recorded victories in the first two weeks of the 19th Kanoo Inter-Division Cricket Tournament. The tournament is conducted for its employees and its associate and subsidiary companies as part of its corporate social responsibilities of encouraging sports in general and cricket in particular. It is sponsored by Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Group and co-sponsored by AXA Insurance and Maersk Sealand. The 5 teams participating in the event are: BDP Logistics, Finance, Machinery, Power & Industrial Projects (P&IP) and Travel. The tournament is conducted on a league-cum-knockout format. Machinery vs. BDP Logistics BDP Logistics openers Inshaf (18) and Oliver (53 not out) produced 60 runs for the first wicket but after Inshaf’s departure only Siras (22) was able to support Oliver to reach 128 runs in 12 overs. In reply, Machinery started well with opener Vatshan (26) attacking with the support from Fahim (11) and Naseef (10). Thereafter it started losing wickets at regular intervals and needed 9 runs off the last over. But experienced Imran Sheradi bowled well to tie the match and share the points. Man of the Match – Oliver of BDP Logistics. P&IP vs. Finance P&IP got off to a good start with Razi Momin (60) racing to his half century with the support of old warhorse Shafi (20). But the rest of the batsmen could not contribute much and it was restricted to 123. Izan and Sami Khan took 2 wickets each. In reply, Finance hit the target in just 8.3 overs with fine batting by Sami Khan, who remained unbeaten on 74 along with Asad (29 not out), to lead Finance to 7-wicket win. For P&IP Ehtesham got 2 wickets. Man of the Match — Sami Khan of Finance. Travel vs. BDP Logistics BDP Logistics openers Nuhman (10) and Yaser (41) gave a fine start. Then Zahir (29) and Imran Sheradi (24) boosted the total to 166. Yaser of Travel took 4 wickets and Venkatesh two. In reply, Travel was bundled out for 73. Shyam picked up 2 wickets, while Fahim, Imran, Shiras and Zahir got one each to give BDP Logistics a big win by 107 runs. Man of The Match — Yaser of BDP Logistics. Machinery vs. Finance Finance put on 132 with Sami Khan, again scoring an half century (60) with the support of Asad (14) and Ashfaq (21). Fahim claimed 5 scalps and Vatshan 2. Chasing 132 was not easy for Machinery after losing openers early. However, Fahim (15), Ayub (14), Ashfaq (10) and Suresh (11) managed to reach 105. Ashfaq picked up 3 wickets. BDP Logistics vs P&IP BDP Logistics raced to 144 as Mohammed Inshaf scored a stylish 30, Oliver batted patiently and then exploded to remain unbeaten on 46 and Imran chipped in with a quick-fire unbeaten 20 in just 5 balls. Shafi took 3 wickets, while Bashir and Najaf got one each. Chasing a big total, P&IP lost openers for 13. Shafi (10) and Rafiuddin (15) tried their best but others failed to make any substantial contribution as the team was bundled out for 91. Fahim picked up 4 for 19.
