ResizeAL-KHOBAR — A special ministerial committee is studying the formulation and drafting of rules and regulations for the establishment of women sport clubs, Makkah Arabic daily reported on Sunday quoting informed sources.
The sources said some of these clubs will be established by the government and the others by the private sector.
The committee comprises the ministries of interior, foreign affairs, education, as well as the Presidency of Youth Welfare.
The Ministry the Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance was added by the Council of Minister’s committee of experts to suggest the religious controls compatible with the Islamic Shariah and the customs and traditions of Saudi society.
The sources said the committee will also organize the clubs. The committee will lay down the rules under which licenses to establish women sport clubs may be granted. It will also specify the duties of the body supervising them.
Some private agencies have illegally introduced women sports in women embroidery shops, physiotherapy areas in some hospitals and hotels.
These places have no experts in women sport. They are extremely expensive and do not have enough sport equipment. They also lack proper ventilation.
Sports is particularly important for women especially those of them suffering from obesity, cardiac diseases, diabetes, hypertension, psychological disturbances and others.
