JEDDAH — A total of 27 teams are gearing up to participate in the JCA Saudi T20 Cup 2016.
The teams have been divided into three groups. Group A and B comprise eight teams each and will be in action in the morning. A third group with 11 teams will play the league matches in the afternoon. Eight teams will advance to the knockout quarterfinals stage.
Jeddah Cricket Association (JCA) will provide T-shirts and caps, bearing the sponsors’ and tournament logos, to the participating teams. The organizers will also provide dresses to match officials. Reel & Rom and UT Lines are the tournament sponsors.
JCA CEO Muhammad Iqbal congratulated all the participating teams and urged them to abide by the tournament rules.
JCA President Aijaz Ahmed Khan dedicated this event to Muhammad Iqbal and Haroon Abdullah, the brains behind the event.
He also thanked the sponsors and media for helping promote the sport.
Hamid Rana, JCA vice president, released the draws during a function at a local restaurant.
A.A. Merchant, the torchbearer of JCA, was the master of the ceremony. He briefed the gathering about the rules and regulations of the event.
The groups are as follows:
Group A: Saudi Oil, Pak Shaheen, Jamoom Fighters, Gujarat Eagles, MCH Green, Ittihad, UT Lines and MCH Blazers.
Group B: ARM United, King Stars, Universal United, Reel & Rom, Lahore Badshah, Jamoom Tigers, Malik XI and ACE Travel.
Afternoon Group: MCH Premier, Peeran XI, AJA XI, NAJ, ICAD, Hala International School, Pepsi Deccan Knights, M.B. Stars and Saudi German Hospital. — SG
