[gallery td_select_gallery_slide="slide" size="full" ids="49016,49017"]MADINAH — Sheikh Dr. Muhammad Ayoub, former imam of the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, died at dawn Saturday at the age of 65. Funeral prayer for his soul was performed today at the Prophet’s Mosque after mid-day (Dhuhr) prayer and he was buried in Baqee’ Al-Gharqad Graveyard.

The late Sheikh Ayoub was born in Makkah in 1372H. He studied and memorized the Holy Qur’an at the age of 12. He was taught by Zaki Daghastani and Sheikh Khaleel Abdulrahman Al-Qari at Binladin Mosque. He studied the Qur’an, the interpretation of its verses and Qur’an sciences by several sheikhs including Sheikh Muhammad Sayyid Tantawi, Sheikh Abdulaziz Muhammad Othman, Sheikh Akram Dhiya Al-Amri, Sheikh Muhammad Al-Amin Al-Shiqiti and Sheikh Abdulmuhsin Al-Abbad.

The late Sheikh Muhammad Ayoub had two wives and his family comprised 13 people. He is survived by five sons, Al-Arabiya website reported.
