Saudi Gazette report DAMMAM — Outside parties are trying to instigate revolt against the Kingdom’s leadership through fake social media accounts under Saudi names and fabrication of information, Al-Watan Arabic daily quoted an Interior Ministry official as saying. Images of brutal massacres committed by the Syrian regime were posted online alleging that these were the result of the bombings by the Arab Coalition on “civilians” in Yemen, said director of information management and online public administration for intellectual security Col. Dr. Fahd Abdul Aziz Al-Ghufeili. These parties are also promoting takfiri (deviant) and atheistic ideas, he said. The Ministry of Interior warned against the attempts by some parties to exploit social media for illegal purposes to deceive users. Al-Ghufeili said the ministry’s follow-up and analyses of social media networks like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, WhatsApp and Snapchat revealed these attempts. Al-Ghufeili issued these warnings during a lecture organized by the College of Technology in Al-Jouf, sponsored by the General Organization for Technical Education and Vocational Training. He said many of the accounts that post fake messages are managed from outside the Kingdom by hostile parties through thousands of accounts under Saudi names that post more than four million negative messages per month via Twitter and other means.
