RIYADH — The Council of Ministers on Monday approved the Kingdom’s organic farming policy.
The goals of the policy include production of secure and high quality foodstuffs, preservation of environment and natural resources, conservation and rational consumption of irrigation water in organic farming, and supporting organic farming produce.
The weekly session of the Cabinet, chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh, approved the policy after reviewing a report from the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, and examining the recommendation of the permanent committee at the Council of Economic and Development Affairs.
Minister of Culture and Information Adel Al-Turaifi said the Cabinet also approved the agreement signed between the governments of Saudi Arabia and Indonesia for hiring Indonesian domestic workers, signed in Riyadh two years ago, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
After examining a report presented by Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Naif, deputy premier and minister of interior, the Cabinet approved the regulations for the National Center for Measuring Performance of Public Bodies.
The Cabinet also okayed the restructuring of the board of directors of Al-Ahsa Irrigation and Drainage Authority with minister of environment, water and agriculture as chairman, for a period of three years.
