Saudi Gazette report
JEDDAH — Recruitment offices deported 50 percent of Bangladeshi housemaids back to their country since recruitment from Bangladesh restarted, Al-Madina reported.
Recruitment office owner Hussain Al-Harthy said there were many reasons for returning the housemaids.
“The Bangladeshi housemaids were being unprofessional and refusing to do their work. Many of them were not trained and could not communicate due to the language barrier. In addition to the differences in culture and traditions between the two societies, these maids were not properly equipped to work in the Kingdom,” said Al-Harthy.
He also said clients have three months of trial period to try the housemaid they get.
“If the client was not pleased with the performance of the housemaid within the initial trial period, he may return the housemaid to the recruitment office with a notification stamped by the consulate stating the reason for the dissatisfaction,” said Al-Harthy.
He added that the recruitment office then returns the housemaid back to the consulate to continue with the rest of the procedures of returning the housemaid back to her country.
“A total of 40,000 Bangladeshi housemaids were sent back home and they constitute around 50 percent of the recruited Bangladeshi housemaids since the Ministry of Labor reopened the door for recruit from Bangladesh,” said Al-Harthy.
A source from the Bangladeshi Consulate said the Dhaka government is working on establishing training centers to familiarize the Bangladeshi workers coming to the Kingdom with the Saudi culture and traditions.
