Smart solution to reduce cost of housing by 20%

Fatima Muhammad Jeddah -- A source at the ministry of housing told Saudi Gazette that they will start an online portal this Wednesday for house owners. "All owners of housing units will be obliged to register online." The source spoke to Saudi Gazette at the side of a workshop organized by the JCCI to discuss major challenges that faces housing industry in the Kingdom. Nidal Jamjoum the deputy head of the housing committee at the JCCI noted that the legislations are the major challenges that face the housing industry. Up till now he noted different municipalities set varying criterial in regard to the minimum land space allowed to build a housing unites, as well as other regulations like building drivers rooms, among other issues. The aim of the workshop said Khalid Ba-Shwair, the head of head of housing committee, is to collaborate and come up with recommendations that should ease it for the public to have affordable housing prices. A representative of Al-Isayi company presented a proposal on how value engineering can contribute to reducing costs of housing construction starting from the design stage. Such strategy if implemented can save between 15% to 20% cost.
