ResizeRIYADH — South Village Warriors, Raja XI and Selicon XI made the grand finals of the MoneyGram Cricket Ke Badshah (CKB) 2016 here recently.
In BACS camp, the standout team is South Village Warriors, which had been unbeaten in the competition so far and claimed a famous victory Sunday against its archrival BACS Zanbaz. It was in no mood to let up and restricted Zanbaz to 120 off 20 overs and achieved the target in 18 overs to be crowned champion of BACS.
In Al Seif, the competition drew to a close with Raja XI taking on Thurman Camp and the match came down to the last over with Raja XI taking the title.
At Saudi Oger a crunch semifinal between Saudi Oger and Binladen was taken by Saudi Oger, which went on to lose narrowly in the final to Selicon XI.
Legendary Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan will award the trophy and a cash prize to the winning team after the finals.
The tournament saw over 5,000 players fight it out over four weeks for the right to represent their camp in the grand finals.
With the competition’s main prize of SR10,000 and cheerful support of thousands of campmates, the teams have been taking this rivalry seriously and the games showcased this with many close encounters on the field.
“MoneyGram’s is excited about the prospect of grand finals with such great teams all heading into final tournament matches unbeaten,” said Andrey Afanasyev, MoneyGram’s Marketing Director for Middle East, Pakistan and Afghanistan. “Surely we are going to witness huge passion and fierce competition as players fight for the right to be named the best cricket team among the labor camps in Riyadh.”
This exciting tournament compliments MoneyGram’s association with the International Cricket Council (ICC) where MoneyGram has extended its sponsorship with the ICC for an additional eight years in an agreement that will see the global provider of money transfer and payment services sponsor all tournaments until the end of 2023.
