JEDDAH – Saleh Al-Jasser, director general of Saudi Arabian Airlines, made an inspection tour of the facilities for domestic flights at Jeddah's King Abdulaziz International Airport Tuesday evening.
The tour covered the arrival and departure lounges, service outlets and various other facilities at the KAIA's south terminal, which mainly serves Saudia flights.
Al-Jasser also reviewed the operation plan for the transportation of Umrah pilgrims and other passengers during the holy month of Ramadan.
Al-Jasser met with the officials of Saudia and ground service agencies at the airport and conveyed to them Ramadan greetings. He expressed confidence that the operation plan of Saudia for the holy month would have excellent results.
Al-Jasser's visit comes on the sidelines of Saudia’s implementation of its operation plan for Ramadan, which is the peak season for Umrah pilgrimage. Ramadan this year coincided with another peak season, which is the summer vacation for schools.
Saudia made a 5 percent increase in the number of its scheduled domestic services during the holy month while the number of seats rose by 7.93 percent.
The number of domestic services rose to 2,552 flights weekly with a total capacity of 377,648 seats. The number of flights between Jeddah and Riyadh stood at 320 while the services between Jeddah and Dammam reached 148 in the holy month, the airline said in a press statement.
