MANY of us were glued to the TV screens last Monday to listen to five ministers presenting their ministries’ programs in the National Transformation Plan (NTP) within Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.

This was the first time these many ministers directly addressed the people presenting their programs. Earlier, we used to listen to brief statements delivered on their behalf telling us in flowery language what these ministers wanted to say or do.

More important than their operation plans was the closing accounts they have to present to us after four years.

Based on these closing accounts, society will issue the certificates of success or failure to these ministers who will not have a second chance to sit the exam as it is held only once.

Their success or failure is a matter which is deeply connected to the country’s future and therefore there is no way it would be compromised.

Many other ministers will follow in the coming few days to present their NTPs but this time we will not wait for them for five years to achieve their promises.

The time when ministers delivered their achievements in the framework of the Five-Year-Development-Plan was gone. It is the era of NTP, which is instant and immediate.

The era of NTP will have no faltering projects or bureaucratic hurdles. People will no longer have patience on a minister who slackens or fails to deliver. Failure or weakness will have no place in our life any more.
