Saad Al-Dawsary I do not know why some senior officials at ministries do not take the messages we send them into consideration. Many writers have warned them against taking certain actions. It looks like our messages fall on deaf ears. I thought that social media, which has brought about changes at the ministry level, would change the way some senior officials work, but I am apparently wrong. They continue to engage in the same activities although the government has recently revealed a new vision for the development of the nation. I am talking about how some officials squander public money in unnecessary ways. For example, some officials pay a lot of money to place advertisements in newspapers to congratulate other officials who have been appointed to senior positions. These advertisements cost a lot of money. Moreover, they are against the bylaws adopted by ministries and they also make the public angry. Why is this the case? Because every now and then we read about how some ministries suffer from budget deficits and then we see those very ministries placing expensive advertisements in newspapers. This does not make sense. Apparently, some senior officials only care about their own interests and that is why they spend money on these advertisements, money that should have been spent on something that would benefit the general public. I think the only way we can stop this type of negligence is by requiring the officials who place these advertisements to pay the costs from their own pockets.
