NAJRAN — The Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH) recorded 10 violations by institutes under the tourist housing sector. Najran SCTNH Director, Saleh Al-Miraih, said the commission organized an inspection campaign on various hotels, furnished apartments, travel agencies and tourist trip organizers. There are over 170 hotels and vacant residential units in the area, which the commission is responsible for maintaining, regulating prices and ensuring they meet international standards. The commission aims to give consumers, tourists, and foreigners the best value for money and protect them from being exploited or manipulated by greedy travel agents. Rides closed over lack of safety steps BAHA — The Civil Defense shut down several electric rides due to a lack of adequate safety procedures. Baha Civil Defense official spokesman, Jamaan Al-Ghamdi, said after receiving reports from visitors of the annual Baha Summer Festival that there were several children’s rides at the festival that lacked the basic safety procedures required. Many of the parents expressed concern over the neglect of safety. An inspecting team from the Civil Defense found that some of the rides did not have seat belts, were not licensed to operate, or were in a poor condition. The rides were shut down and banned from operating until a clearance from Civil Defense. The owner of the company that provided the rides had previously committed the same violations and was subjected to the same penalty. Al-Ghamdi said the Civil Defense urges business owners and investors to cooperate to ensure safety for all, and that businesses would face legal consequences for compromising the safety of their service.
