JEDDAH — More than 520 national and international flights arrived at King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) during the past three days.
The airport's public relations official, Turki Al-Dheeb, said the most common destinations have been Cairo, Dubai, Khartoum and Istanbul.
“We are all here to serve the travelers. More than 21 public directorate are involved in serving travelers at the airport. The past few days have been very busy as all members of staff at the airport have been on their feet 24 hours a day,” said Al-Dheeb.
He added the airport has a plan in place for Eid season which guarantees the safety and comfort of travelers. “Our travel halls have doubled in capacity and non-travelers are banned from entering the airport leaving more space for passengers to walk around smoothly and unobstructed. Banning the entrance of non-travelers also helps security officers to monitor the airport and keep it safe,” said Al-Dheeb.
He also said KAIA is the most operated airport in the Kingdom serving more than 30 million travelers in 2015 alone. “The crowd at the airport is expected by the end of the Eid holiday as thousands of people will be returning to the kingdom. We have set up waiting areas for those coming to pick up their families and friends,” said Al-Dheeb.
He added the visitors have requested better ventilation in the waiting area, to separate smokers from others and more beneficial services.
