JEDDAH - The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) denounced on Friday the criminal attack in the southern French city of Nice, denouncing it as “barbaric and brutal”. OIC Secretary-General Iyad Madani expressed profound distress at this atrocious crime, which according to initial investigations have the hallmark of a terrorist act. In a press statement, Madani underlined that terrorism has no religion, nationality or race and that all those behind the attack are an affront to humanity and all moral and human values. He called for bringing the perpetrators to justice. Madani reaffirmed the OIC’s solidarity with the French government and people in this painful moment. He reiterated OIC's firm, consistent and principled stand against all forms of radicalism, violence and terrorism. The OIC chief emphasized the need to consolidate international efforts in the fight against terror. “Apart from taking security and military actions, there should be attempts to address political, social, economic, cultural and humanitarian reasons,” Madani said. He conveyed his deepest sympathies to the families of the victims and wished fast recovery for those who were wounded in the attack.
