200 employees succumb to death or disability daily

MAKKAH — An average of 200 employees either die or retire due to physical or mental disability daily, Makkah newspaper reported on Sunday quoting the pension and social security authority. According to the report, a total of 74,791 employees retired in 2015, which is an increase of 2,238 retirees over 2014. The report said as many as 69,574 employees died last year while 574 have retired because of disability. The authority said the employees who died last year included 66,004 men and 3,570 women. It said a total of 37,126 employees died while they were less than 40 years of age and 8,287 died between 40-44. It said 7,922 employees aged 45-49 died last year while 7,145 deaths were in the 50-54 age group. According to the authority, 6,965 died between 55-59 and 2,129 died while they were 60 or above.
