ResizeTAIF – Some Hawiye residents have filed a suit against Taif municipality claiming that it has failed to limit or remove an industrial zone they claim is invading their neighborhood.
Residents said that the zone is in close proximity to their homes and is causing damaged cars in the neighborhood, creating an eyesore, impeding the flow of traffic and causing fires.
Despite repeated appeals to remove the industrial zone from the neighborhood, the resident’s demands have gone unanswered.
Concerns are that the zone is a source of pollution and has created an unsuitable and unsafe environment.
One resident, Fahd Al-Aiydani said he was surprised that the municipality had not responded to residents’ demands or to what he said are the abuses occurring in the industrial zone.
He said that the damaged cars in the area were blocking water drainage and could lead to a flood similar to that which occurred in Jeddah.
Another resident, Saeed Abdullah, said he would sue Taif municipality over its failure to remove the industrial zone in the area According to Abdullah, a fire broke out in the industrial zone that took Civil Defense teams two days to extinguish.
